Financial Improvement with Real EstateAs we set off into this year of interesting uncertainties it is important to keep our perspective on what we want to accomplish for the year. It is said that we get what we expect although we all expected some rain in December and that didn't happen.

What is your resolution concerning your financial improvement picture and is real estate part of it? It should be, because we expect it to be a turning point for many. It's going to be a painful lesson for some and a boom for others who take advantage of the market rather than complain about it.

Like the absence of rain, there is currently an absence of home inventory.

·         Currently 887 properties on the market

·         40% of those are in escrow

Those are startling numbers when you consider that…

Looking at the numbers and sensing the direction of the market, we see opportunities abound for both buyers and sellers.

Currently:

  • 654 homes for sale
  • 500 are single family homes
  • 40% of homes are in escrow

The holidays are just around the corner.  With family coming into town you might be looking for activities to do.  Here is one of our favorite Thanksgiving day outdoor activities (besides football in the street).A wonderful hike in Marin County: Cataract Falls

A hike to Cataract falls is a beautiful escape just about 5 minutes above the town of Fairfax.   It is uphill at first but then it is mostly level, an easy hike for 8 and up; 2.6 out and back.  It follows a ridge so if it’s sunny in the winter you get to enjoy the day.  Bring layers though cause it then it drops down to the cool falls.  You can also stay on the ridge and sit in the sun or just go back and be glad you were out and about.  So pop in the bird and hit the trails.  A good Thanksgiving or Christmas hike.

Directions: about 5 miles…

When we first meet with our sellers at their property we go through a step-by-step process in preparing their home to market. This book really defines these steps to help our sellers sell their homes. Quick overview? See below!

Step One: Un-cluttering. This is the first and most important step. Clutter makes rooms and the entire house feel smaller. Who wants to buy smaller? Live with the basics only. Great un-cluttering words to live by...sell it/store it/or give it away. Less is always more.
