Hike in Marin; Just Above the City of Fairfax. Perfect Thanksgiving Day Activity!

The holidays are just around the corner. With family coming into town you might be looking for activities to do. Here is one of our favorite Thanksgiving day outdoor activities (besides football in the street).
A hike to Cataract falls is a beautiful escape just about 5 minutes above the town of Fairfax. It is uphill at first but then it is mostly level, an easy hike for 8 and up; 2.6 out and back. It follows a ridge so if it’s sunny in the winter you get to enjoy the day. Bring layers though cause it then it drops down to the cool falls. You can also stay on the ridge and sit in the sun or just go back and be glad you were out and about. So pop in the bird and hit the trails. A good Thanksgiving or Christmas hike.
Directions: about 5 miles west on Sir Francis Drake to the town of Fairfax. Turn left on Pastori, right on Broadway, and left onto Bolinas Road. Drive about 8 miles (on the way the road becomes Fairfax-Bolinas Road), to a small roadside parking area immediately before a sharp hairpin curve to the right (a short distance past Alpine Dam). The nearest mileage marker is 8.13.

A great Wine Country outing but only 20 minutes away.
